General Information

The focus of the COALA project is on the development of a prototype controller with advanced fuel cell system hybridization strategy. This strategy is based on enhanced monitoring and control methodologies and on improvement of the fuel cell subsystem efficiency and lifetime by the development of an algorithm for on-line optimization. The aimed hybrid system is based on polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells and Li-ion capacitor (LiC) packs, developed within the project.

COALA is a research project funded by the Polish-German Sustainability Research Call (STAIR) and coordinated by DLR and Gdansk University of Technology (GUT). The work of the Polish partners, GUT and Impact Clean Power Technology, is funded by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and the work of the German partners, DLR, Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg and PowerCell Germany, is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, Grant no. 01LX1601).
